In an effort to re-tune my Biblical alignment, I’ve been reading through some of the outlines of books in the Old Testament, in my MacArthur Study Bible. Simple and easy as it is, reading outlines has always benefitted me. As I was looking through the Exodus outline, I read the following:
II. Israel on the Road to Sinai (12:37-18:27)
A. Exiting Egypt and Panicking (12:37-14:14)
B. Crossing the Red Sea and Rejoicing (14:15-15:21)
C. Traveling to Sinai and Grumbling (15:22-17:16)
D. Meeting with Jethro and Learning (18:1-27)
This just made me laugh. I don’t think anything can capture what my fleshly journies through spiritual life look like better than that.
II. David on the Road to Sanctification
A. Leaving the Things that Enslave Him, He Panics
B. Experiencing God’s Protection Amidst Transitioning, He Rejoices (for a while at least)
C. God Allows Him to go through Hard Times When He Needs to Rely on God, He Grumbles
D. Relating with a Godly Person, He Starts to Realize How it All Makes Sense
