I’ve been told I’m a cocky person
This is, in fact, quite true.
I am cocky, and I like who I am… to a fault.
But, especially today, when I and many others honor Jesus’ display of complete control over life and death, by rising out of his grave after suffering the most massive form of death I can imagine-
….I want to brag about him instead!
Whatever things were gain to me,
those things I have counted as loss,
for the sake of Christ.
More than that,
I count all things to be loss
in view of the surpassing value
of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.
I have suffered the loss of all things for him,
and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,
and may be found in him,
not having a righteousness of my own derived from the law.
I find, instead, through faith in Christ,
the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith.
My desire is to know him,
and the power of his resurrection
and the fellowship of his sufferings,
being conformed to his death-
in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead,
having renewed life with him forever.
